State of the Night Nation

Post  God on Wed Mar 16, 2016 5:37 pm

In the early Mediaeval Era, Prince Mithras of London forced the lesser Princes of the British Isles into accepting his overlordship; to this night he is 'Prince of Albion', they mere 'Barons' which are his vassals. By 1900 this is mainly a legal fiction, but for a Baron to declare themselves Prince would be a formal break which would bring down the Methuselah's wrath - Shawlands of Manchester actually received this title in 1880 from the Inner Circle, but is currently too fearful to actually use it.

In typical British style, Kindred simply work around this, treating the Barons as de facto Princes. The only two exceptions are Seren of Gloucester and Matilda of Norwich; for reasons unknown they also use the title 'Princess' and have been getting away with it for centuries.

With the largest population and the centre of governmental, economic and culture of the Empire, London is the dominant power in the country. It is unlikely that even if all the Fiefs combined against it Mithras would fall...
