Experience [XP] Notes
Earning XP.
As the chronicle continues, I will be doling out XP points. Reasons for this include, but are not limited to the following...
- Completing a quest.
- Completing a IC night.
- Good RP'ing.
- 'Critical Success' bonus.
- 'Creativity' bonus.
- Providing extra materials in your Sparks of Life.
- Keeping Sparks of Unlife up to date.
I will also award a block of XP to every character at the end of every Episode / Series, representing the free time the character will have during Downtime to sharpen their abilities and to achieve personal goals off-screen. Size of block will depend on how long the Downtime is.
Spending XP.
You can only spend XP during Downtime. Don't ask me for exceptions to this rule, ever. Expect to have to give justifications for said spending – especially for high-level skills or things out of the ordinary. And yes, you can save up XP. All learn times will be during Downtime. If the Downtime is seriously limited [say a few weeks or so], expect that some spending may be limited - after all, you can't learn Dominate 4 in only a few nights!
God's Gifts.
At times, I will reward abilities, lores, backgrounds and possessions at either reduced rates or even for free. I will notify you of what gifts I'm giving [and the reasons why] when I award XP.
God's Stealing.
On the other hand, I will sometimes take similar away. Most common reason will be due to skill obsolescence; it takes a conscious effort on a character's part to keep up to date with advances in culture, science and technology. And before you ask; no, you will not get an XP refund for my stealing.
XP Cost Breaks.
There may be the occasion where the method your PC learns a new Ability is much more effective than usual; for example being tutored in it by a true expert in the field. For the very rare occasions this happens, I will give a small discount on the XP cost for improvement.
